Volume One, 2012
A work in two parts Volume One, a printed publication and audio cassette, examined the relationship and cross overs between the different cultural elements in Leeds at the time. Including written features and interviews on emerging and well known local artists such as Idiots Pasture and Simon Boase and interviews with artist led projects such as curatorial collective & gallery space Mexico and independent print set up Inpress.
Accompanying the zine was a pull out screen print poster commission by Inpress and a hand screened and editioned commissioned poster cover by Idiot’s Pasture. The cassette, also donning an illustrative commission from Idiot’s Pasture featured local music and sound talent featuring the amazingly talented Leeds based band Hookworms, an exclusive never released anywhere else (ever) track from Hookworms side project Idea Shower plus a piece from Ithica Trios’ latest album and sound works from Simon Boase and Black Dogs’ Andy Abbott.
Volume One was hand assembled, stitched and numbered in an edition of 150 and launched in a live event at Wharf Chambers, Leeds, in a night that featured immersive live musical performances from Simon Boase, DUST, Ithica Trio and Eclectic, artist video projections, interactive games and a number of publication & print stalls from associated artists and organisations.
